Understanding Buy Rates, Sell Rates and Residuals

Your residual rate is determined individually per merchant, based upon the buy rates and sell rates you enter when creating a new merchant account in the Reseller Interface.

To determine your specific residual amounts, please contact Reseller Support 888-437-0481 for Buy Rates and Suggested Sell Rates.

Authorize.Net-Managed Billing
All billing and residual payments are handled electronically, as a direct credit to or debit from your bank account. Once you set up a merchant, you will continue to earn residuals without requiring further administration of the merchant account.

Buy Rates
Buy rates represent the wholesale rates at which you purchase the merchant's payment gateway account from Authorize.Net. There are three Buy Rate Programs as outlined in the Reseller Interface. You may choose the program that is best-suited for you and your merchant.

Sell Rates
Sell rates represent the retail rates you charge the merchant for their payment gateway account. We provide suggested retail rates, but you can choose the rates you wish.

Residual Amount
Your residual equals the sell (retail) rate minus your buy (wholesale) rate. To earn a residual, always choose sell rate values that are greater than your buy rates. By entering sell rate values less than your buy rates, you will be responsible for your buy rates AND the difference between your buy rates and the merchant fees. By entering 0, you will be responsible for your buy rates and no commission will be earned! The only case where you would want to enter "0" in the merchant sell rates, is if you are going to bill the merchant yourself.

Setup Fee
The setup fee is a one-time fee for creating a merchant account.

Gateway Fee
