Welcome to the first reseller newsletter of 2010. Everybody at Authorize.Net has been working hard to make sure this year is as successful as past years, still it's hard to believe we're already a quarter of the way through the year. This year, the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) is celebrating its 20th anniversary at its Annual Meeting and Expo in Las Vegas, April 13-15. Customer Information Manager (CIM)

We recently released several enhancements to CIM, which allows merchants to store customers' sensitive information on Authorize.Net's secure servers for use in future transactions. These enhancements will help you sell CIM and increase your monthly residuals, while helping your merchants with their PCI DSS compliance.

Merchants using CIM can now manage their customer profiles and issue CIM transactions from within the Merchant Interface. New features available include the ability to manually create, update and delete customer profiles, including payment and shipping profiles, and enter charge or refund transactions to a CIM profile.

Additional CIM enhancements include:

An advanced search function allowing merchants to enter more specific search criteria when searching for a CIM profile

The ability to review the transaction history of a given customer or payment profile

Merchants enabled for Expanded Credit Capabilities (ECC) can submit unlinked credits to a customer profile

Credit card expiration dates are no longer masked


As a reminder, CIM is a value-adding service that provides you with an additional revenue stream for each merchant who enables CIM. For more information on your current buy/sell rates for CIM, please log into the Reseller Interface and click Account. Then click the Buy Rate tab and select Customer Information Manager (CIM) Buy Rates from the drop-down menu.

MasterCard and Discover Mandates

As you are aware, MasterCard and Discover are modifying their rules concerning the processing of debit, prepaid and gift cards. Specifically, MasterCard and Discover will now require that most merchants support the processing of partial authorizations, real-time full authorization reversals, and balance response transactions.

MasterCard's rule changes go into effect May 1, 2010, and Discover's rule changes go into effect April 16, 2010. However, Authorize.Net, MasterCard and Discover have worked together to extend these dates for all merchants using Authorize.Net solutions. Our merchants will now have until June 30, 2011, to implement support for the requirements within their systems.

Authorize.Net will be updating our systems over the coming months to support the requirements, but will be dependent on each processor's readiness. For a table of when we anticipate we will support the requirements with each processor, please visit

We will be communicating to our merchants beginning this week, letting them know of the extended deadline as well as what changes they will need to make on their end, depending on how they connect to the payment gateway and what services they use.

We are pleased to announce that for the second year in a row, Authorize.Net is a recipient of the 2009 Achievement in Customer Excellence (ACE) Award. CyberSource's Annual Fraud Report, which has become the definitive source of information throughout the industry regarding e-commerce fraud and fraud statistics, is now available.
